As I was out walking

As I was out walking last evening, I noticed a group of people watching
another group of people who were watching this little girl riding her bicycle down the middle of the street. She still had the training wheels on, and as she wobbled and struggled to pedal, she didn’t see the oncoming truck. It reminded me of when I was little and my mom used to play catch with me by the highway. “Go long,” she’d say, while lofting the ball toward the center median. I never could catch those throws while dodging the traffic, because I was too afraid I’d hurt myself. Amazingly, getting my driver’s license at 16 and the subsequent borrowing of the family car passed without incident. Except for that one time when I was on my way home from school and I didn’t see that little girl on her bike…
NOTE: The above story is not an indication that I am in any way romantically linked to either Jason or Meg.
